Dear friends, HI to ALL Off you.
I've got PR4 and I'm asked to link to page PR0 . does it matter for G if i link to site with pr0? if yes, how can be new websites promoted without having links from high ranked websites?

Regards,

Be careful about linking to a PR0 site. If he has been PR0'd penalized for participating in a link farm, and you cross-link with him, it could cause you problems.

Noximus,

has your friend been Banned PR0 because of dirty tricks, that is the key factor.

I am sure you can see that Google does not want responsible webmasters (especially webmasterworld members) linking to sites which have been banned etc etc.

Imagine Googlebot is human, the question he/she/it would ask is "Why is Nomimus linking to this horrible site linkfarm that I banned"

get my drift :)

How do you tell if you're site has been banned besides a PR level of 0?

iamjoe,

stick around this forum long enough, and members know they are going to be banned even before the ban takes place :)

happy reading.

There has been a lot of discussion as to how Google determines which sites to penalize in a link farm. Such sites just linking TO your site should not automatically impose a penalty, as you have no control over who links to your site. The consensus is that a "reciprical" link is what might be the trigger to identify the guilty parties in a link farm, as this would require active participation on your part (to link back to their site).

Also, a PR0 and a ban can be two different things.

A ban is easy to spot, the site is no longer in any search results!

A PR0 can also be imposed by itself as a lesser penalty, and has been known to happen in some cases to link farm sites. A site with some decent inbound links but a PR0 is a sign of this penalty. Unless it's a brand-new site, if it has even a few inbound links, it should typically have at least a PR1.
