Breaking up links page

how will it affect links manager links

Presently, I have all of my links at mysite.com/links.htm

I want to break that page up because it's too big and not gonna pass much PR to each site I link to.

But some of the sites linking to me use links manager..so when links manager comes and crawls my site to check that the link is still active, and I have moved it to a new page, what will happen...I suspect a reciprocal link to me would be lost..or perhaps they would e-mail me, and I could give them the new URL for the link.

I thought of keeping the links page where it is, but I would no longer be linking to it from my other pages..so nobody would ever reach it...while placing the link on a category appopriate page with fewer links....but if I have all my links duplicated like that would cause, how does that affect my own PR?

Hope that made sense....

Ya, it makes sense, but why worry about it? If the linking site is on the ball, they will ask what has happened to their link and/or investigate. A simple "more" at the bottom and top of the page should tip them off that there is another page. If this is some part of a 'program', you probably should e the other sites if you can and let them know. Also, if you do change the url, make sure to go to the new url, and click on the links to generate a referral to the site so they see it in their logs. Do that every day for a week.
