Hi everybody,

i had some major problems with my Internet provider in the last 24 hrs. My server was down from 5pm ET to noon today.

Logs show googlebot crawl index.asp and robot.txt just before site went down.

This client do e-business and most of it's traffic comes form Google. He has been around for 3 years and have a good PR.

What will happen? Will Googlebot return? Will the site completly dissapear next month?

Thanks

GoogleGuy reported that they increased support for re-spidering sites which where down (that was quite a few months ago)

So if you are lucky the till try to re-spider your site in a few days or so, if not you will probably only get the index page listed.

I have experienced the same situation many times, with diferent ISPs and with the own server. Donīt worry, Googlebot doesnīt conclude a site does not exist any more just because it is down for one day.

The several sites I experienced this situation with never disappeared from Google.

My site was down for 50 hours during last months crawl with no real noticable decline in number of pages that ended up in the index this month. They're good about moving you down the list if your host/server is down and coming back later. The only time you'd really have to worry (I think...) is when you're the unlucky sap who comes up last in the crawl period and THAT is when your site goes down.

There's another week or so left in this crawl (anyway - maybe longer), so don't worry too much about it. She'll be back.
