Probably not the update, but I have never seen this before

Ok. So not to start another false update thread.

This is what I just noticed on www, www2, and www3.

I did a keyword search on www. It displays the following:

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,910,000. Search took 0.06 seconds

I hit reload, reload, reload and it still always displays the same numbers.

BUT! When I do that same search for the same keywords on www2, or www3 and hit reload, reload, reload, this is what I get:

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,920,000. Search took 0.05 seconds.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,870,000. Search took 0.07 seconds.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,800,000. Search took 0.05 seconds.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,920,000. Search took 0.05 seconds.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,800,000. Search took 0.05 seconds.
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,870,000. Search took 0.07 seconds.

However, there is still no change in link counts for Yahoo! no matter how many time I hit reload.

yeah I've noticed the same thing.. i thought it was something to do with the datacenters having different info but it seems you get the changing figures when you access each datacenter individually.

Yep, I see it too, but I don't know what it means. Never tried this exercise before. There is the obvious theory though, which is that they're using www2 and www3 to test tweaks to the algo, resulting in rapidly changing results. This would be consistent with the theory that the reason for the late update is an extensive algo change.

Also, for what it's worth, I don't see any changes in the SERPs for the different results, just different numbers of total pages. How 'bout you guys?

I've just noticed on www2/www3 there are extra 'sponsored links' (not adwords) at the top of the page for many of my KW. This wasn't the case yesterday.

Bryant, what search were you doing? Did you try your search on the specific data centers? This might give a clue as to what you are seeing.
