Check which directories in your region get "picked up" by G, and submit to them.
For example, in Ireland, listings in Niceone and Browseireland get picked up, while loads of other directory listings aren't..

Dmoz is a help, but really not required. I have thousands of pages in the spidering engines -google included- and do not submit to directories. You've linked to the other domains already, that's a logical (though some will say risky) first step. Now I'd start on a link campaign, trying to get a link on any good-neighborhood, 3rd party site that will have you. Do reciprocals if you have to.

I have had success with emailing the editor of DMOZ after a month of not being submitted.

If there is no editor for the category which you are submitting to, email the editor up one level, or up two levels if needed.

If you want to get listed in Google, it is really simple. Install their toolbar and visit your site. Uninstall, reinstall, then do it again. Google will think multiple users are visiting your site and you will get listed.

If you go to Resource Zone [resource-zone.com] they will give you an idea of whether your site is still waiting for review and if it is, then how long the queue in that category actually is.

Actually that's not really the best advice duncan12. AFAIK no-one has yet proved that visiting sites the toolbar installed helps get listings.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, incoming links is the only proven method...

You might also consider applying to become a DMOZ editor for your particular website category. I had a site waiting seemingly forever in a category without an editor so I became an editor for that category and was able add all the sites waiting in the queue, my own included. Plus I've learned a lot about websites by reviewing others.

Hey RC, is there a particular reason you ignore the directories?

>Hey RC

Worthy of a separate thread, maybe.
