More than 1 link from same site...is it counted each time

have a site with 800 pages with links to me on all 800 pages, good or bad?

I have several sites linking to me from every page on their site, from 150 to 800 pages each site...does each link count because it is on a different page of that site? I am a new site, so I cannot tell you what the effect is, so I'm trying to foresee the effect.

Hi Jimmie,

Yes, each link will "count" providing it has pagerank for it to count towards anything meaningful.

Pagerank works on a page by page basis and not site by site.

Jimmie,

Brotherhood of Lan explains it nicely.

but 2 things?

1, Depends on the PR of the page linking to you!

2, If you are a new site and have this many links pointing from single sites......watchout, they will get you.

(excuse my above comment if I have typed out of turn, but this IS 1 of the oldest tricks out there)

I have just found the clearest evidence this is so. I just found a pagerank 7 site with 15000 backlinks. I'd say 95% of them come from one site with an average of pagerank 4 on each page.

If Pagerank is Logarithmic base 7 (who knows? It's just what a few people mooted here) then those 15000 links should give the site a pagerank 8. There are about 15 outbound links on each page on the linking site. That would drop the pagerank just over one notch to pagerank 7.

Sorry for boring you guys, I just get a little over excited about dross sometimes :)....err, I think I'll go and put the kettle on.

Reread "Shakil" #2. There is an inbound link filter.

Shakil #2...how will they get me?

and it's not even a trick....I did webmaster work for all their sites...and they are just paying me back for it....I didn't go after it or set it up as some trick....but clearly it could look like one, I can see.

Sorry Jimmie I didn't explain myself.
If the 800 inbound links equal more than any other links to your site it can be viewed as a "trick". Even it if isn't one. Without knowing how many links you have it is hard to answer.
Think about how easy it is to do and what you would do if you were an SE. If you can, select 10 good pages that you want your link on.

at this point, I would be causing this other site a lot of working to go take them off...I have about 100 other links from other sites...i may be new, but I did a huge link exchange campaign from day one...still awaiting 200 reciprocal links from others...this game is so hard to play...one person says get all the inbound links you can, then someone says get a few from high PR pages...I can hardly find a site with a PR above 7....I never even imagined in my wildest dreams having a site would become so political...I just wanna sell my really wonderful product and the sad part is that I could have the best fuzzy widget anywhere, and if I can't win this game, the whole world loses out on the best widgets anywhere....ya know what I mean...no where is business done quite like it is on the Internet.
