Does Google look at how many hits a particular page get to help rank it. If so how are these hits measured, by ip or other? Just wondering....

Your question is misleading, which could result in incorrect answers.

Yes, Google takes into account Link Popularity (by this I mean, sites which "LINK" to your site).

NO, Google does NOT count number of visitors to your sites in any shape or form.

According to Danny Sullivan of SearchEngineWatch, yes Google does SOME clickthrough measuring.

Google occasionally measures clickthrough on its results, kind of like Direct Hit and some other sites do.

Only about .5 percent of its search results are measured, but they don't use these measurements when calculating ranking.
