Watching Google Visits in Relation to Pageranks

Hi all,

I noticed that for the past few months, Google would deep crawl my site about once a month. I currently have a 5 PR on my main pages. Recently, maybe a week or two ago, Google has suddenly been deep crawling my site on a daily basis. It's great because I've noticed it seems to update changes Ive made on my pages fairly quickly in the search engine, yet my PR hasn't changed. Is it possible this could be a prelude to seeing my PR jump another number? The magic number Ive been trying to get since I started has been 6, so it's a bit agonizing to see my site at 5, just ONE short hop away for the big one. :-O

Hey BlueStreak, maybe your site was tagged for regular "fresh crawls"?

I've not seen a correlation between crawling and pagerank on my sites.

PageRank is only adjusted during (or after) the monthly update (the dance). Your listing may change several times per month (or week) depending on many factors, but this has nothing to do with google showing new backlinks and PR.

You'll just have to wait for the dance, like the rest of us. :)

From our experience, the frequency of freshbot visits seems to be related to both the PR of the page and freshness of content. Some of our higher PR pages do get a daily visit despite not always being the most fresh ones on the site.

Sorry, let me just clarify my earlier statement:

Once you GET a high PR, then you are likely to get fresh crawled. However, being crawled often or regularly doesn't necessarily mean that your pagerank will increase. I have many many low PR sites that get crawled deeply and often and their PR hasn't changed.

Thanks for the responses, it's pretty much what I figured. I wonder though what more I would have to do to get my PR up one more number. Guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, publicize the site, update it on a regular basis, and so on, and hopefully, eventually I'll get to that magic number. :D

Only one thing will increase your pagerank, other sites linking to your site. The more relevant the other sites are, the better.
