Hello,

Even though I have been reading other threads here and have learned quite alot over the last few months, this is the first time I have had anything to say.. of interest that is. Googlebot said his final hello to me today at 12:30 AM CST.. not to be heard from again..

This is the 1st month I have had daily visits since I opened shop in August. :-)

Freshie has been visiting me today, which leads me to something interesting but it could be nothing. Considering I haven't really watched bots that much until recent, I did notice a few from AOL today which seemed "out of place" for lack of a better term. Not that AOL plays a big role in my search hits...less than 5%

Hi. What software are you all using that you are able to spot such detailed movement? Mine in obviously at the bottom of the ladder!

Namaste, if you have access to you raw logs you can open them in any text editor, hit 'find' and then type in either 64.68. or 216.239.46. or Googlebot.
FreshBot usually slows down around update time. Also its possible or even likely that the same boxes and bots used for fresh indexing are now being used for image indexing.

Just looked at yesterdays log - lots of activity, almost like part one of a deep-crawl. We are on daily freshbot, but she took roughly five times the usual amount yesterday.

Funny thing with the freshbot is that a cache change can now mean a lack of visits by Googlebot. When fresh listings are added during the month your site's listing and cache are reindexed. Near update time freshbot will often disappear from many sites. Two days after her last visit your cache will often revert back to the cache you had at the beginning of the previous cycle. So you must check back at least a week I would guess.
Also make sure its your raw logs your checking. If you have a stat program that uses js this won't know Googlebot is there.
