<moved thread from alternative search engine forum>

I think we had somebody mention that google.yahoo.com still existed in the last week or so (do a site search, above, if you'd like to read more on the subject).

Making an analogy to the cleaner user interface of AltaVista,HotBot etc. [google.yahoo.com...]
is primarily for those who want a relatively NO-Frills version of Yahoo "Web" Search and/or the "Directory".

There is only One Image on the entire page - The links include:
Buzz Index - Yahoo! Picks - New Additions - Full Coverage

What is the difference between that and [ink.yahoo.com...] which has been there since the old ink deal? Or [av.yahoo.com...] Don't they all just really revert to [search.yahoo.com?...]

[ink.yahoo.com...]

[av.yahoo.com...]

"av.yahoo" may have been a leftover from the days when Yahoo used AltaVista as a Secondary Database, later - because of the perceived portal competition - Yahoo went to Ink, then to Google -
The databases seem to be virutally identical (except for the subdomain)
