Lower Traffic?

what could cause it?

Happy Holidays to all.

I have a web site that has been growing in an almost predictable pattern the last few months. I read the posts in this board, I keep my site clean, and I add about 5 pages with good researched content on my topic every week or so. The site has been indexed by Google and I have enjoyed a steady flow of visitors from Google searches, to the point of growing by almost 1/3 every month.

During the last Google update I saw the usual growth (reflected by the new pages indexed by Google) but suddenly beginning on the 15 of December my traffic began dropping steadily to about 1/3 of last month’s traffic.

Google still has all the pages indexed (from the previous crawl), my PR6 has remained, and the fresh bots visits my site daily to scan a multitude of pages.

I thought it might be that holiday traffic is lower (that much lower?), but I also thought it might be a good idea to get some answers from more experienced webmasters in this forum. I read many posts but I found nothing that could point me to an answer.

Would I be wise to blame the drop on the holidays, or on the everflux, or should I really be doing something about it (and what would that be?)
For now, I keep adding my content and waiting for the next Google update.

Thank you in advance for any ideas or leads,

Thomas

My traffic the past 3 days or so have also been really low. Hopefully that'll all jump back with some umph behind it after the new year.

Many different types of sites experience drops in traffic around the holidays. There was a thread here last week (which I of course can't find now) on the same topic. Looked like things were slowing down pretty much across the board starting a week or two before Christmas (unless you sold RC mini cars with a 12-hour delivery).

The holidays definitely have an impact on traffic. I'd focus on building your business model and website till the end of the year (and beyond). Come January 15th, take a look at your traffic statistics and see where you stand.

Likely to be just holiday slowdown - quite normal.

Yep, my sites are very quiet at the moment. A good time for maintenance.

Things should be back to normal early New Year.

Thank you all for the quick and reassuring replies.
With all the horror stories a read here about dropped sites and the such I was a bit nervous.

It is good to know that people take the time to enjoy the holidays and don't surf as much. Not good for the internet, but great for humanity :)

Happy holidays,

Thomas
