Our site has been changing

For the past 2-3 months our site has been in the top 3 and then goes to page 9 or 10. This has happened several times in a month. Our page rank is 3. I have tried to understand by reading forums. I can not figure out what is causing this. Need help.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, jimun. You're in the right place, we've got the answers for you here. What you're experiencing is basically due to Google's "Fresh" crawls all month. It's more thoroughly explained in our Everflux thread:

The December Google update [webmasterworld.com] is any day now, so don't jump to any conclusions until after it happens. We all watch the update together, so make sure and join us; it's a lot of fun and we all learn a lot, too.

I've been experiencing the same thing. I get listed on the first page for a while and then get moved to the 10th page or 12th page and a few days later I'm back. This is going on all month. Marcia, its fine to explain everything away with Everflux - but I don't believe I'm seeing kiddie google (I mean freshbot!) piling up any fresh snow! - atleast not a significant amount to cause such shifts.

Not here, I can still take an evening walk without my jacket buttoned. :)

We had one main thread for these changes for a couple of months, which is good because we can all monitor the changes and figure it out together. We'll do it again next month for sure, after the update winds up.

A lot of people are experiencing the same thing, we'll have to see how it turns out during this update, to see if the sites stayed down or moved up again.
