Matrix or carousel?

If you run several sites what works best for PR

I run several sites with content based around similar topics on the same overal field, each site however is tragetted at a specific audience with specific needs. All sites are linked together on each home page and on each page that is relative to another. Each page also has links back to the home page and to each section.

Each site has a PR of 5

My question is this...

Is it best to link to a few of the sites in a carousel fashion or to link matrix style, ie every page to relative content on each other site.

Which method would generate maximum PR?

Hi Greg,

and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

PR, Pagerank, is on a Page basis.
Each page receives its own inbound external links and thereby its Pagerank.
Linking inwards throughout your pages and sites just distributes that Pagerank.
Too much interlinking with straight links over several sites could lead to some sort of penalty. You can always use javascript links if you are scared it is going too far.

I would suggest you check the threads on Pagerank and cross-linking.

My advice to you would be to make sure these links are for your users and make sure that is obvious throughout your pages - user-oriented linking.

You know what my best SEO technique has been throughout the years? Pretending the engines aren't there.....

Theme's are extremly important, so i would forget matrixes from an internal page cross-linking point of view.

Caine I think it's important to mention that Themes are determined by anchor text.

I have sites ranking very well where the topic of the site is totally unrelated, but the anchor text is theme based so the sites rank well.
