If you have a Google site & web search box on your site, do the search results show up differently to normal google traffic?

Would the referrer show as www.mydomain.com.au or google.com?

I have not seen any significant change in the google traffic, so I am assuming it will either not show or show as www.mydomain.com.au.

Any ideas on this one?

When you use a hosted site search application, the query used by a vistor would be passed to the server where the search software is actually installed.

That server will produce a SERP that contains links back to your pages. When someone clicks on those links, the url of the SERP will get logged in your log file as a referring url.

Well, I'm in the US, and I have a free google box on my site.
Referrers from the box come back as

http:// www.google.com/custom?all-the-query-parameters-here

You can spot the search box referrers by the /custom part. They'll be google referrals, not referrals from your site (since the actual search result page is served up by Google).

That's the answer I was looking for.
