I recently re-developed a site for a local florist. The last site was poorly developed and had little to no meta tags. It still managed to find placement in google. The old listing is still there. Since the links are not working anymore because it's a completely different site and database, Googlebot hits the site atleast once a day trying to get picture images. I think they are trying to do this for the www.froogle.com site that Google is preparing to launch. Does the site benefit at all from having dead links in google. Will the Googlebot recognize that the site has changed and scan the new tags?
The last company I worked for had dead links in google and I just created new pages with those dead links to go to the home page. A few weeks later, the site was picked up by Google with the new tags.
Also, I saw that Google hit the site two nights ago. It wasn't a search by anyone nor was it an image search. It was just a scan on the home page. Will I clicked on it, it was the home page and a cache of it's new logo. How much longer after this will the site be updated into google?
Thanks,
Ken
