I have a site www.widgets.com and asked my host to redirect www.widgets1.com to www.widgets.com, and i wanted it set up so that widgets1.com would turn into widgets.com but it stays at widgets1.com and they apparently just pointed the domain to my IP rather than forwarding it.

Is this bad in the eyes of google? or will they see it is the same IP?

skirope, there's nothing wrong with having many different sites on an IP, so I don't think that's an issue.

The result of publishing identical content at different URLs can very. Google is exceptionally good at dealing with duplicates, ususally it will even merge their listings and their backlinks (so therefore PageRank).

If, however, Googlebot visits the URLs at different times during the crawl then the content may have changed. This would normally lead to separate listings and a splitting of the PageRank.
