Can someone summarize Everflux succinctly?

In one paragraph?

People keep bringing up Everflux and being pointed to a long thread on it. This being 2002/2003 whose attention span is that long? ;) If someone has good writing skills and understands it, would you mind putting the explanation in one simple, easy to read paragraph? Thanks!

Google has a separate robot that comes out and picks up just "fresh" content - stuff that gets updated regularly. That stuff is then "injected" into the main index. When that happens, you'll notice a drop or raise in ranking due to the sites ahead of (or behind) you. Because these results are added on a daily basis, the results fluctuate continually - hence my term "everflux".

This is the one:

[webmasterworld.com...]

It just means they crawl all month, and sites are in and out, up and down in rankings in a very transitory fashion in between normal monthly updates, when Page Rank is recalculated and the new index is generated.

Thanks, OK so it IS the freshbot, right? I thought I read somewhere that it is the deepcrawler not the freshbot and that confused me.

The deepcrawl normaly takes place at the begining of the month, soon after the monthly update has finished.
