Hi all,
I made a simple site just 5 days ago, submitted it to a free "submit your site to the 40 biggest search engines service" and to my surprise it showed already up on Google yesterday!
When you search for "9 dec 2002" on Google it shows over 1 million results, all sites with "9 dec 2002" added by Google
I didn't know Google did such fast addings of new sites, anyone knows what this is all about, is it a fast updating of their index to be more up-to-date before X-mas?

Hi Sabine,

welcome to webmasterworld, dont 4g3t to read the welcome post: [webmasterworld.com...]

can you clarify whether your site has any inbound links?

also what you are seeing is the everflux/fresh bot at work I think.

You will see your site in/out over the next few weeks and then settle down after an update, maybe end Dec or end of January.

thanks Shak for the quick response!
everflux/fresh, I never heared of it, I'm sure gonna do some in depth reading on this great board before asking another "newbie" question

about the inbound links, my site is very simple: just a frontpage with a title and links to my 20 galleries with thumbs, no links to other sites at all
I posted my site on quite a few message boards and linklists, so I guess the Google-spider has found my site from those places ( I heared submitting your site directly to Google doesn't help that much )

I'm surprised my site shows up on their first page for popular keywords

well,I'm off to search this forum on how to take advance of this everflux/fresh as much as possible, maybe I'll ask some more about it later

thanks again :-)

Sabine,

glad to be of assistance, and yes some serious reading will gain you very valuable knowledge on the whole SEO angle.

enjoy your stay, and remember NO going back to the normal world, and keep away from those "submit to 300,000 search engine programs"
