Hello,

I had a website that was hosted on a friend's server. I now bought a dedicated domain for it and hosted it somewhere else, all clean seo, loads of content etc. However what slipped my mind was the fact that the site was already accessible from that friend's account! Google crawled the new domain during the deep crawl (googlebot got to the site through a link from my portfolio) and now the site has a grey bar. I suspect it's for duplicate content. I've emailed the admin to ask him to remove the duplicate and I'm waiting for his reply.

Now the question is, once he removes it how long will it take for Google to pick it up again? Also, how does Google determine duplicate sites and which of the sites does it ban? the www.domain.com which is newer or the [domain.sub.sub.sub...] which was in the index?

Thanks for the help

grey bar...means your not properley indexed yet..unless you are saying you had pr before?..you seem to be saying this is the first time youve looked at the toolbar..is there a cache for your site?..just sounds like your a new site

You don't email to remove the details - you should do this yourself:

[google.com...]

It didn't occur to me to use the Google removal tool LOL. The admin took offline. Yes you're right I didn't look at the bar before but since I saw Google crawled it I assumed it was crawled properly.

Thanks for your time
