why does google recommend not to have more than 100 links on one site? i have a sitemap with 170 links to all of my pages, and I do not want to split it because it gives a very good overview for my site.

what do you think? should i cange it? i really think that it is a good page!

I cant be ars## to count them but there are quite few on this one

[google.com...]

An if it is useful to the user, forget google for once. It is not a spam or dodgy technique.

Give the user what they want too.

It seem to me that Google is giving us a glimps into their algo. What we do with it is up to each of us individually.

Per page (see Design and Content Guidelines [google.com]):

> Keep the links on a given page to a reasonable number (fewer than 100).

It may certainly make sense to split a large links page into two or more sub-pages (which I recently did), but for the site map I would choose the structure that I find most suitable for my users' navigational needs (probably a single page).

i am interested what people think about this... i too, redid my site map, and have about 300+ links on my map. i did this so google will get a complete link listing of my products, but it is also for my customers. does anyone else have a big sitemap that is effectively being browsed by google?

[google.com...]

Last bullet under Design and Content Guidelines.

>why does google recommend not to have more than 100 links on one site?
Its not on one site but on one page.

>>given page ... fewer than 100

Per page. I can think of a number of reasons to keep the links on a single page fewer than one hundred.

Usability comes to mind first.
