My site was indexed by google. Now it isn't there

Can I find out what happen to my site. And why it doesn't show up at googles search result. Do I need to resubmit the site again.

If it is a new site or a site just recently indexed by Google, dont worry. It's perfectly normal for a new site to appear and dissapear during the first few days. It will take about two months for the results to stabilise. That will leave you plenty of time to get listed on smaller directories and chase links.

I believe submitting or resubmitting to Google is a waiste of time.

Thanks for your prompt response. It is not a new site, it was indexed by googles for about a month and half. Some how I got dropped. would adding a robot.txt. index,follow will help.

Not to my knowlege. But getting inbound links from related sites and smaller directories certainly will.

Is your site hosted on a good server? (some downtime during a crawl could cause this)
Did you participate in a link exchange program such as links-to-you? (major no go)
When did you notice your site was not anymore in the index?

It is hosted by (godaddy) I think they are good? I noticed it about three weeks ago. I didn't know what to do. Yes, I joined linklead and i had arequest fron university of wisconson to link to my site and i authorized them to do so. i am very picky in terms of who I link my site to. what is my solution now what do i have to do to get it back in google?

I dont know about linklead but they seem to use some tricks... look closer into it. They dont even use their own URL in Google anymore and the Google directory listing shows PR0...

I am sorry to say that, but I believe such a program got you into troubles with Google.

Do you know about your page rank?

What do you exactly read when you query Google for your URL (whitout the URL, please)?

my pr was 1 for my keyword for a long time. there was othr pages ranked within top 10 pages

You can find out about page rank (PR) by installing Google tool bar on IE 5.5 (or more recent) for windows.

I am afraid your site was doomed by the linklead package. Read here "Quality Guidelines - Basic principles:".

There are many threads in this board about recovering from PRO. I never read them (touching wood). You can look at them in the forum's library [webmasterworld.com].
It could be a temporary problem too, but the odds are not on your side.

Hello yasunglass, I’d like to add my welcome. Macguru is offering great resources because although you may not have a PR0 what you may have is a site in need of help to move it up from PR1 at least, if I’m now reading your question clearly. We’ve confirmed that your concerns with a link trade program as a possible problem are correct. Link exchange programs that attempt to automate the process between large groups of sites have proven over and over again to cause problems from PR woes to PR zeros. I don’t think we all agree as an industry that these are a real problem and so professionals continue to provide these services. Unfortunately when you realize it’s a problem is when it’s often too late.

What I would suggest is that you start reading, especially the Reciprocal Linkage Topics [webmasterworld.com] forum, really there’s a wealth of information there and keep a list going of questions that come up as you are reading then use the search feature [searchengineworld.com] to find out if we’ve discussed those any further. You will 100% surprised with the incredible wealth of information here.

I sincerely believe instituting a linking strategy is too important of an issue to let yourself be anything but fully informed before making decisions. I wish new members would find us because they are searching first on how to set it up a linking campaign and not after they’ve signed on for something that could potentially get them into trouble with the search engines. Not only that but I now realize that there are some people that can’t handle anything but the very simplest of campaigns.

There are many companies selling linking services, automatic programs and software. There are consultants and link hunters of all levels and experiences. There are many theories and philosophies concerning linking so don’t be surprised at my search tip above because that will help if you are serious. You can make it as simple or as advanced as is suited to you.

We can lead people to the trough... and even I have contributed hours explaining and guiding but in the end the site owner takes on the responsibility of their choices.

Yes, it is a free society but a sad one at times. Paynt hit the nail on the head. It's not until after many web masters join the link farms that they realize the potential pitfalls. What irks me is that these Link Farms often have a fairly good rating not only in pr but in the serps. Google could do everyone a very large favor just to ban or zero out all those sites, but then again we live in a world of free-enterprise and "buyer beware". I've sent hundreds of requests for links via email and when there is a web master really running the ship I get a quick and usually positive reply. It's easy to see why the link farms are so popular, but in the end spend the time writing those emails and preparing for some rejections. As your pr goes up and your SERP results follow I've found that those that turned me down when I had a low pr now want to link with me. Guess i'm just a butt-head but they had their chance and now I can say "they blew it".

I am back indexed by google search engines. I contacted googles yestarday and explained what realy happen. They got me indexed. Not only in googles, netscape, aol, yahoo. I think they will performe if you present your case properly.
