Google Toolbar on front page

Looks like Google is pushing the toolbar on the home page now.

Yep, I see it too, here in California. They are really trying to promote it. I imagine they want feedback on the quality of sites people surf to, as a ranking factor.

Google uses that toolbar for data mining and we don't know the final use of the data. Use it very carefully until it is understood what the "real use" of the toolbar is.
We could speculate on possible uses but, I don't think it would do any good.

then seam to toggle the homepage a lot to highlight their range of tools and services. Sometimes I see the toolbar, always adwords and sometimes other services.

yep, getting the toolbar myself too on their home page.

And the 'make google your home page' since it isn't anymore :)
