Page Rank Anomaly

Seems to go against what Page Rank is all about.

We have a page that appeared no.1 under the old index for a certain keyword search. Our page was and still is a PR6. Now under the new index we have slipped to 4th.

Whats puzzling is the No.1 page has a PR2 and has little content and 2nd and 3rd slots are taken up by 2 pages from the same domain that have no PR and a little more content but still not as authoritive or in depth as ours. I've found some weird doorway pages going on with one of them but still can't work out why ultimately they should appear higher than our article.

Anyone seen anything similar or want to check out what i mean i can sticky. Very flummoxed with this index it seems to me that PR is less important.

Do an allinanchor: search for the keywords in question.

It's quite possible that they are ranking well based on off-page factors rather than on-page elements.
