In other words, how does google know that a site is practicing spamming or bad SE practices to get listed? Does it have some sort of auto or manual cross-referencing feature? Is it artificial intelligence?

For that matter what is bad SE practices? doorways, mirrors, etc.?

'bad' is what does not get your clients what they paid for.

'good' is what makes your client happy, and you money.

These definitions are for optimizers / SEO pros.

Any SE will doubtlessly have their own definitions of good / bad SEO.

Why worry about those, since the SE isn't the client paying you? :)

This is what Google themselves says is bad SEO:

[google.com ]

(new here, but I assume this URL is ok to post, please delete if not)
