Yeah, it's me again :)

I'm out and about looking for more high PR sites that I can get inbound links. I've already got the big boys, less Yahoo, which is out of the question. However, my topic is massively less common than say, Web Promotion.

What do you guys think of joining like Topica Newsletters, which in my categories, have PR 6, 7, and 8's?

Would it be beneficial or damaging to have more than one link from the same place, but different pages?

I also found a general webring site, which honestly I hate webrings, but another related site is milking a couple of very nice PR8's from it. So, I created one too for my site. I probably won't ever publicize it, but the link helps, yes?

Thanks guys! (One of these days I'll actually be qualified to be the "helper", and not the "helpee"...lol)

My topic is less common and I've had really good luck submitting my site to directories in my general area. For example I might have a site on widget history but I try to get listed in widget link pages and directories. Of course I try to get linked form widget history sites as well but there aren't many of them.

I also use the google tool bar to find sites that have linked to pages similar to mine. Then I look to see if they have a link page on my topic and if so I write to them.

Be sure you have a lot of good content up before you do this. You want them to be WOWed and want to link to you.

Whoops, I forgot to answer your basic question. I think you are a little too concerned about how high their PR is. If the site looks well related to your topic just see if you can get linked. My impression is that the real danger is linking to link farms. I avoid anything that seems really impersonal and bent on link trading. But I don't think there is any problem if the little guys, even personal web pages, link to you. Small sites may bring you more visitors that a huge directory where you are lost in the mass of links. It's not just a matter of PR. Related links bring you visitors who are likely interested in your topic or product.

A few things that I try to do when building links:

1. Type in "keyword add url" or "keyword submit" and you may get a few places that encourage you to submit.

2. Go to directory.google.com and type in your keywords and surf those sites to see if you can get a link

3. Try to contact individual, or even personal, sites where you can "advertise" in exchange for a text link

Just a few of the things I do when hunting for links.
