I see hits from google for my homepage basically everyday around the same time (along with the robots.txt file)... My question is, why would they waste the bandwidth in requesting my homepage if they don't then stick a "fresh" tag on it in the serps. It's been updated a few times but no mr. freshy...

If you discover the reason......

I have a page that has been PR0 for over a year (even though my home page has returned to a PR5). Ms Googlebot has come by the whole year on an almost daily basis and grabbed the page. It gets a fresh tag - even if it hasn't been updated - but the page is still PR0 in the directory and usually cannot be found on a search.

I'd love to know the usefullness of the "fresh minty" tag ;)

Chico,

Same thing here. While waiting for the Nov. update to be fully included, I was fully hit by FreshBot on the 15th of this month, almost every page of my site was listed, but it only lasted a couple of days (Was nice while it lasted). A few days later, FreshBot came back for just my index page. I got all excited, as at least ONE page was temporarily going to be in the serps. However, the page never showed up. This has happened like 3 days in a row now - Freshbot 200 - but no sign of site.

I got so excited to see the fresh bot that I started adjusting things in hopes to stay and get better positions. I think I screwed up somewhere, specifically I added a H1 tag in my index page, but then changed the font size, like below. This was before I knew about css :)

<h1><font size="2">Title</font></h1>

Do you guys think that was why FreshBot decided not to include me after the spidering?

Thanks all,

Karen

Changing the size of the H1 font should not hurt you but I always make sure it is larger than any other text on the page.

You also do not get a fresh tag if you have the google no cache tag on your pages.

I don't have any 'no cache' tags. The only thing I have added was the meta tag index, follow. I only did that one because I read a few threads on here that said it wouldn't hurt, but could help with Ink.

I can't think of any other reason for Google to decide not to include me with a fresh tag. Guess I'll be crossing my fingers til the update! :)

Thanks

AHHHHH - question answered. I hate that cache because on framed pages, the cache just turns up as a blank page.. so I used the no-cache tages, yet it still hits me everyday.
