About 2 months ago I changed the title tag and the format of 2 of my webpages. The changes were picked up by Google within a few days and the newly formatted pages have been in the data base, as such for the last 2 updates. A couple of days ago I followed 2 different searches through my stats and found the old pages, old cache coming up as search results, along with the new formatted. The new pages on page one of the searches and the old page formats on page 5 and 6 of the same data base. In other words the same url, in the data base twice, once under the old title and once under the new title. This for 2 different web pages. I should mention one of the searches was directed from Google and one from Yahoo.
I am curious by nature and was wondering - why? I am not complaining, why should I, I was just wondering. Anybody got any input for me?
Sometimes, Google index duplicate pages (often it has to do with [site.com...] and [site.com),...] and sometimes they show old pages, that have been updated, and they have different cache versions of different pages, i have had pages show up which was updated 6 months ago, but they still show up. (and they have the "fresh tag" [webmasterworld.com] also)
Duplicated pages is a handy little bonus for the next little while coming into Christmas, though. I wonder how long they will stay.
