I wonder if anyone can advise me.

In the process of building a website for a client googlebot came along and spidered a page that was a direct copy of an existing page on the site. The only difference between the two was the page heading.

Is it likely that the entire domain will be flagged as spam? The domain name is really important to the client and I'm not sure what to do.

As soon as I realised what had happened I quickly removed the text off of the page and slapped unser construction on it!

Googleguy where are you?

If it was only one page, and it is no longer there you are most likely ok. I have seen entire duplicate domains last for quite a while. One duplicate page out of an entire site shouldn't cause you any problems.

You did the right thing by removing the content as fast as possible.

thanx gsx. i was really more concerned about getting flagged as spam due to duplicate content. requesting removal from the index wouldn't prevent this would it?

since i posted, googlebot returned and took the index page. i guess this indicates that the site is still ok with google.
