PR0 for 2 years old site without links?

Thank you for this great forum!

I would like to start to promote the site in my profile but I wonder how a site beeing online for several years can have a pagerank of 0.

The site has only few links to it (not shown on Google) and is not yet in one of the main directories. But I thought PR0 for the homepage would only apply for sites that have been penalized. I cannot see any reason for this.

Hello zgb welcome to WW

If you have links to other poorly linked low PR sites then you could well have PR of Zero!

Go get yourself a listing at www.dmoz.org (It's free) that should get you some PR.

Thank you! I didn't know that linking to other sites can give you a PR0.

I checked all links going out from the site but apart from the internal links there is only one link to a sports page with PR 4.

Of course it is necessary to add the site to ODP and Yahoo but I wonder whether somebody in the past did something that is causing us problems in Google.

PR0 doesn't just mean you have no PageRank, It can mean you just have less than 1.

Maybe I anm not reading you correctly, but it sounded like you were thinking that PR was related to links out from you. It's the other way around, you want a good number of links from other sites to you.

The problem is much more likely to be that you have now incoming links, than that someone caused a problem earlier.

Profiles no longer always show urls of new members, it becomes visible later.
