Hello,

A very strange thing happened. I was listed in dmoz on Wednesday, and then my site was also listed on Google on Friday. Only one page of mine (the homepage) was in the listings but it was coming up pretty high. I'm pretty sure it was unrelated because I could not find any spiders that had the google ip's. And it did not display the dmoz directory description below the search result.

But then I checked today, and we are nowhere to be found on Google. Any ideas on why this would happen? It's a fairly new site so it shouldn't have been in there previously.

I hope I haven't done anything to be banned, I don't know what it could have been if it was. it's a legit site. just waiting to be spidered.

Thanks.

kjs50, give it time....this is far too early to expect a stable Google listing. You will probably need to wait at least another 4 weeks.

In the meantime if it is a new site work on getting links from other associated sites.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld kjs50! ;)

In one day and out the next is likely to be a good thing.

This is consistent with Google's refresh bot, meaning Google has your site at least partially indexed.

The refresh bot visits sites rather quickly to pick up changes keeping its archive "minty fresh".

However, cause and effect of this means that one day you "are top ranked" and the next day you are gone simply because the quick updates are not actually part of the normal archive

As percentages has indicated, be patience... you will likely "be" in the monthly update which usually appears in the last few days of the month.

I've got the same experience too. My website's homepage was indexed 3 weeks ago. After 2 days there were 10 pages.

'Great!', I said. But suddenly they were removed, and only the homepage remains.

Thanks for the help guys. Weird how it works though. Teasing me like that! The good thing is that I'm in Dmoz and that should help me get indexed.

It's hard to get links in my category. It's a specialty product and i'm an etailer. Not that many others that would link to me. The only thing I have going for me is dmoz for now.
