dead links

For at least six months I've been waiting for a inactive website to drop out of the rankings (it is above me). I guess you wouldn't exactly call it "dead" -- the page redirects to a domain parking site. I don't understand why the site doesn't drop out. It is # 7 for my key words and does have some backlinks, so I guess it existed at some point. The cache is updated regularly by Google, so I don't understand why it never moves after an update. I tried make Google aware of it by using the Remove deadlink feature in Google but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is a silly question -- I'm pretty new at this.

I've been watching 1 high profile site for five months now, that redirects all it's pages to the new owner's site, but the site still shows in SERP's, and the google cache.

I haven't tried writing them, because it doesn't concern me but I'm surprised that they don't get rid of the old trash faster...I guess they don't because that way they can advertise a bigger number of pages in their index? :) Dunno.

Strange things are a foot at Google, that much is certain.

As far as help in getting them to remove the site, I wouldn't worry too much, it probably won't take away from your market share in any serious way, given that it's a redirect...provide your visitors and audience with what they are looking for, and your site will rise of it's own accord.

Cheers.

Sounds like strong anchor text buildup. It will eventually get flushed out.

Thanks...I guess I'm just anxious because I moved up to spot #11 this update and I'd really love to get on the first page!

If you are willing, I have another question...

Any guess why my page's listing in the Google Directory shows no page rank? My index page has a PR of 7. I just got added to the Directory last month(sept update) and thought the PR might appear after this one. Nope. Oh, and my page doesn't show a category in the regular google search results.

Same story? Be patient?
