Title and keywords

The fact that page title is very important is well known among people frequenting these forums. There's something that I'm not sure about regarding this issue.

Say I'm building a new page. The keyphrases I wanna target are "k1 k2" and "k2 k3". Now, it seems logical to me that I should name the page with the title "k1k2k3" in order to target both keywords. However, few people would search for keyphrase "k1k2k3".

My question is - is it better to do what I described above, or is it better to use but one keyphrase (e.g. k1 k2) for title in order to avoid getting a poor ranking for both "k1 k2" and "k2 k3". What about incoming links text?

Thanks,Dan

But assuming it is, cause it seems to be very important right now, what is the answer to the question? Also consider that the words in your title tag are likely in your meta tags; <h1> or <h2>; and will appear elsewheres in bold or in larger text. So the question is relevant anyways.

I personally don't have an answer per se but my understanding is that K1K2 is better for that specific search than K1K2K3 would be as K2K3 is better for that particular search than K1K2K3 is. But since you really want to do well with the one page, I suppose you really don't have any choice.

If you were able to make two pages out of the subject, you'd probably do better on each search separately. Your two pages would have titles "K1K2" and "K2K3" but obviously each page would have a lower PR than a single page linked from your home page would.

So the bottom line is it is always a balancing act.

It's true that I can't build two separate pages. What I'd like to know: wouldn't it be better to use k1k2 or k2k3 for title and still try to target both keyphrases(by using the other one on the page)?

I think, at least with this update that title is very important. At least for my pages.

Thanks

I would suggest a homepage for k2 which links to a page about how it relates to k1 and a apage about how it relates to k3 and if possible a page about all three of them together. Each page would have a title that corresponds to incoming link text and page content.

there's no separate k1 or k2 or k3. They have to be used together(k1k2 or k2k3).

About using <h1> or <h2>. What about <h3>-that's what I usually use. Is their importance gradual? I mean anybody can place some huge text on their page and it doesn't even look good.

It's difficult to get a page to pop on 3 separate keywords. Target one each for a separate page.
