This has continued over to the second dance. My travel related sites continue to occupy TOP SPOTS on .fr and .de indices, BUT FAIL TO HAVE GOOD RANKS on .com!

why?.

<snip> Advice needed!

theposter, are they .com domain names or country specific domains? How about the language - are they in English?

Marcia, These sites are in English, .com domains aimed at the North American populace. All I am doing is selling hotels in US cities.

Two updates back, we were in the top spots ALL OVER GOOGLE. However, after the last update, we were relegated to top spots only in the .fr, .at and .ch and .de results.

Frankly speaking I don't understand why there is a distinction?. What is going on!

I agree with you Marcia, GoogleGuy needs a break ;)... I was just trying to get more attention for my posts by using GG's popularity ;)

theposter, I take it you noticed the discussions going on on different algos applied to certain travel related serps dependant on interface language? It's not .de, .fr or some other local Google interface, it's your language setting that does the trick.

Thanks heini, plenty to read there.

My unconfirmed and purely annecdotal belief is that this phenomenon still exists but was reduced considerably at this update.

The poster, could you inform me of the following:

1, what domain tlds you are using (.com or country code)
2, where are the sites hosted (Usa or Europe)

Hotels and cities...that's exactly where different results get displayed on com, compared to local Google's.
Not much help, I'm afraid, but for sure there are many more of your competitors experiencing the same trouble.

Look for travel searches in the Google forum. There's a lively debate on what's going on there.
