While doing several of my important searches I noticed that Y! is returning results in the same order as www2. For instance I will rank 10th on Google (eigth domain when indentations are removed). On Yahoo! I rank 5th. On www2 I rank 5th when the indentations are removed and the four sites above are the same as on Y!
Checking backlinks on Y! is still 657,000.

I was looking through the unanswered messages [webmasterworld.com] and found this one from awhile back.

With the title I wonder how many views it'll get today?

Namaste,

The original message was posted November 1st. Let it die of old age! ;)

632 is the number on all cylinders still. Where are you seeing 657?

I think it is dangerous to search for Yahoo.com on Yahoo.com. You can create a downward spiral of the internet which may create its own black hole which would surley suck every member of WebmasterWorld into it.

coconutz, I think you have a classic case of GoogleUpdate Anxiety. You should take 2 shots of vodka and a breath of fresh air ;)

No anxiety here ;) Look at the date of the original post and my message. I'm amazed that this thread hasn't been deleted or just died.

Lets go back to the original question. Back in November when the 632k was actually 657k, yahoo was showing results from the newest index but the backlinks were from the previous index. lets see if it happens again.
thanks for the pump up coconutz.:)

Maybe I'm imputing my own feelings on to you coconutz, maybe I'm the one that needs the 2 shots and fresh air ;)

I thought you dug this post up because you were experiencing anxiety.

As to the original issue - it's a valid one. Quite a few people have seen fluctuations in the rankings but no link to update.

So what do you say? Whenever the update happens, will the links move up from 632,000 to more than 657,000 or less than 657,000? :)

Is there a general tendency in Yahoo's number of backlinks in the last half year?
