Google DNS cooking up my brain

How long should I wait for Google to start crawling sites at their new server location. I

I recently migrated a site to a new server. I then had my ISP to delete all the entries on their server records (don't know too much about this). This they did. For two months Google has gone back and indexed it seems, the content of the site (that is not longer present at that location), and then taken another domain which still resides on the old server and used that to make the listings. Still when you type in the keywords for the old site. Position 1 of 37,000 results is my site.

I sent an email to Google two months ago when the problem became apparent. I spoke to some of my contacts in the darker zones of tech and they told me that's one of the problems with Google.

Therefore, anyone experienced this and can somebody tell me what I need to do to get it resolved.

Thanks.
Glyn.

Two recent threads for you ...

here [webmasterworld.com] and here [webmasterworld.com].

Don't like the sound of 2 months though. Are you sure that your hosting DNS record has been updated?

Do you mean. If I lookup the domain name does it tell me that the domain is hosted on xxxx nameserver. That nameserver being the location of the new server? The answer is yes, and has been for nearly two months.

It's a bit crazy!

Any input gratefully recieved.

Sounds like your old host just deleted your files, but didn't remove your domain from their local zone. Contact them and make sure your domain is removed from their DNS local zone.

Mark,

Thanks for your help. I did ask my ISP to delete the relevant zone files. I have asked again, maybe next month might bring some joy.
