Lately Google has been pretty quick at adding new content to its index. It used to be that you had to be spidered and then wait for the update, this could be up to 2 months before you get a listing. So long as you have links pointing at your site Google will index you. I don’t think manual submissions really do anything anymore. The key seams to be let Google find you. I have seen new pages indexed 3 days after i have uploaded them to my server, I have read on these boards some reports of pages being indexed even faster than that. I don’t think there really is a time frame for sites to be added. So long as you have at least one inbound link pointing at your pages you should get listed.

And welcome to the boards TammieJ64 :)

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Tammie.

There are variables, but sites that are up and running in time generally get crawled during the regularly monthly crawl, which is right around the first week of the month. Those sites can be expected to be included at the next update, which would be at the end of the month immediately after the crawl. Sites do need some Page Rank and at least one good link from a site/page already in the index, so that makes it important to make sure at least one such link is there in time. ODP is a very good one to get for starters.

Sites can make it in in between, but they often briefly appear and then disappear until the next regular update, so that's no cause for concern when it happens.

if you can search in google and see your site on other sites as links ect, then your set...and it should be the next update (normally end of most months but varies) - i would agree that the submission does nothing anymore...

The great thing about google is without paying a penny, if your out there, you'll be in soon enough...

Its how high up thats the art ;)
