Any data that's public, and that Google can see, is hardly worth storing and organizing. We simply search for what we need, when we need it: just-in-time information management.

Found, via RocketInfo [rocketnews.com] and Searchengineblog [searchengineblog.com].

JIT just in time logistics. Don't they teach that at business school? Yep, and I believe the Japanese were the first ones using the principal in manufacturing, etc...cuts down on the wasted money paying for parts, and then using them a year later.

Taking the metaphor a step further, since Google does use Ram and not hard drives to store their searchable db, I wonder what other modifications future enhancements might bring to their storage and archiving of media?

Quite. How often do we need to remember some nugget that we're sure we used to know? I realised some time ago that dejanews was solving that problem for me better than I could myself. Nowadays WebmasterWorld contains a lot of the essential pieces of information I need day to day.

For example, I used to keep a Google update history on my PC, but it's quicker and easier to type google update history in to the Toolbar and read the definitive version.
