How many relevant links from PR4/5 sites do i need to get a PR5/6 on my site? Of course the site has great content...I already have PR2 and the site hasn't even been permanently added! Are PR7s hard to get? that is my ultimate goal!

TIA

Skirope,

It's easy to get a PR7. All you need to do is find a PR9 site that is willing to link to you from their home page;)

It will be tough for you to get a PR5+ if all your incoming links are from PR5-. It depends not only on the number of sites linking to you, but how many other links are on the page that links to you.

Even if your site has great content, keep adding more, and keep exchanging links. You also might find some of the discussions in the Reciprical linking forum of interest for ways to get your links on to other sites.

A few are from PR6...

3 from PR6

6 from PR5

5+ from PR4-

How many more would I need to get PR5/PR6/PR7?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

There is no easy answer here.

Depends... on

1. PR of the page being linked

2. Number of other links (to other sites) on the same page.

The actual number can vary alot from just 1 more to 10,000 depending on the above two conditions.

Seen as low as 68 (PR7) and as high as 8,000+ for a similar PR7.

Skirope,

I highly recommend that you read "The PageRank Citation Ranking: Bringing Order to the Web". You can find it by using your favorite search engine.

It will give you a good overview of how the PageRank system works and why it is impossible for us to give you an easy answer.

Sorry, gotta do it... every time I read this title I think of "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop"

For the owl it was 3.. I generally only made it to two - but once I tried really hard and made it to something like 20.. but then my friend tried to count and only made it an average of 8 times.

Moral of the story? It's different for everyone. ;)

Hi,

any reason why you are specifically aiming at a PR7?

may be relevant if you read this post, which explains that a PR7 or higher will NOT necesarily get you top listings, even if your competitors have a lower PR

On a similar note - how much are dmoz/odp listings worth?

One of my sites has incoming links:
3 PageRank-5
1 PageRank-6

and the main page of my site is a PageRank 6 with all internal pages being PageRank 5.

Somewhat interesting.

Got me wondering. I have a TBPR7 with about 46 links. Now two are from pages that are TBPR7 and one TBPR6 and an ODP of 5.

There is also one inner page that has two 6's. So it doe not look like there is one method/level of getting certain PR's.

As already said, you can get better SERPS for a page even if they have better TBPR

Just my findings for one site.
