google, spidering, and thiefware.

I have heard that thiefware cannot be used on a frames site.

Here is my question....If I put certain segments of my site, that will be only accessable by my affiliates through their link, into a frames page would these links be spidered and counted against my rank in the serps and the PR? These segments (pages) would be in addition to, not instead of, the ones already there.

In other words, would this create a problem or a penalty?

I am trying to create an atmosphere of safety for the people who have joined me to protect their commissions from things like top text, whenU, Morpheus, etc.

I am very anxiously awaiting your answer and feel there are others here who would be interested also.

Do you want them to be spidered? If not, just ban GoogleBot from the whole directory.

Hi, Slade.

No I don't want to do that as there would be no seperate directory, just the same pages normally seen on site but called through a frames link that effectively puts them in frames. Each page called therafter would be framed. Other pages on site would have a link to free them.

To do this I would link to a frames page with the nav links in it and since they will be called from the same site and directory I wouldered if it would create a spider problem where they may be seen as dup pages when the spider follows the inbound links from other sites..

I am really concerned about this as I have worked hard to get this site known and do not want to lose traffic because of this.

Won't the pages inside the frame have the same URL as if they were called directly from your site?

Unless you know 100% that the framed site cannot be interfered with by this "thiefware" then don't do anything.

If the theifware intercepts any attempts to set known referral codes and inserts their manufacturers then even a framed site will not help you - no matter what you do the code will be intercepted and rewritten.

the framed pages would only be reachable from affiliate sites but the others will be going the normal route.

That is basically my question: when coming in on an affiliate link and navigating through with the frames will the other links followed from a "normal" link and no frames be considered as dupes, therefore spam?

For my own protection, when not coming from an affiliates site, I have put in the fix for most of these on my main pages...haven't gotten the one for whenu yet but will in the future.

Does anyone know if its possible to do anything to stop Lop com Pop-ups? I don't see them referred to anywhere, but know that they send keyword generated popup ads based on the visited site, I watched in horror last week when my hubby visited one of my websites and a very relevant pop up ad came up! My site has none, so I did some digging and it turns out he'd somehow downloaded without realising it all this software about 6 weeks previously and thought the pop ups were from the site in question. We removed it from his PC, but now I can see the Lop UA all over my logs. I don't want to ban them in htaccess because that would ban the surfer too...

If you are an Amazon affiliate, go to the Amazon affiliate message board. There are a number of people there who are very involved with combating scumware, they post scripts too and links to other sites with scripts.
