Hi, I have 2 sites which concern me. Both were on page 1 with their respective search terms, now one is on page 9 and the other is in oblivion.
Both have still high PR's, and the page cache shows they haven't been re-indexed for awhile...yet. for no reason last week...they both disappeared from their relevent first pages. Both sites are extremely different in design and really don't have too much in commmon.

Would this have something to do with the report from Hotwired?

Please help, I'm desperate.

Regards
Kath

There's quite a few things it could be.

- your competitors now rank better, pushing you down
- something on your site triggered a flag
- links TO your site are no longer indexed (for whatever reason)

and on and on.

It's hard to comment on something like this without seeing it. I checked your profile and there is no url so nothing for me to check.

Settle down, hon. I had my main site totally blown out of Google for a month due to some computer glitch somewhere, and it came back the next month. Don't feel too desperate. ;) At Webamasterworld the mods don't like discussing specific sites. For anyone to answer this they'd need to know you URLs. You can add those to your user profile. The problem is the search terms are also needed, and those also are a no-no here. Thus, add your sites to your profile. You can also use that stickymail feature here and send me the search terms and URLs, and I can try and check and see what is what. The fact that you say these sites both have high PR would mean you haven't been accidentally dropped or banned by Google. Beyond that, without knowing more I don't know what is what.

Hi,
Thanks for replying...I had enterd my URL, but for some reason it didn't come through. I've gone and and edited my profile...so please look up the URL and let me know what you think.
Once I've worked out the sticky mail situation, I'll forward more info on that.

Many thanks

Kath

Hi Katherine welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Fact is we really do not do reviews of specific sites. There have been many discussions on this topic in the past.
Here is one that really sums it up:
[webmasterworld.com...]

Besides, looking at a site does not necessarily tell you why a that site ranks better or worse after the last update. Mind you, many members here have no idea why their own sites have changed in ranking ;)

Sorry about that...didn't realise.
I was recommended (obviously wrongly)to post it here for advice...oops!:)

Thanks

She got a hold of me heini before you had a chance to stop her. This is a case of someone in a VERY competetive market, and with sites that aren't optimized in the least for the search terms well. I stickymailed her and told her so, and suggested this is a case where a professional SEO might be needed. And of course, even that is no guarantee. This definitely isn't a case where the sites were somehow dropped or penalized by Google. The problem isn't with Google, but the site design.
