Six weeks..hmmm
Check your logs if you can for Googlebot (216.239...) around the beginning of Sept. Probably no sign of her. Do the same check for the first three days of this month, primarily 10/02. She should be there. Most likely, Google has you in the index but does not yet have a pagerank for you since backlinks have not been factored in yet. Basically there are two different bots (actually many), the fresh bot (64.68...) and the deep crawler (216.239...). The deep crawler will come and crawl everything it can, take the information and map out the links on the web. From this it will determine your backlinks and thus page rank. This is updated on a monthly basis anywhere from three to five weeks after the crawl. The fresh bot is always there, like a cat rubbing on your leg that you can't get rid of. She will gather content so that listings will remain relevant and up to date.
Right now you could probably find your site if you searched with the url. But any keywords would probably be ineffective until you have page rank. By the next update you should be ok as long as you have backlinks.
