You need to get to PR4 before they start to show.

You could do a phrase search for your domain to see how often there is a link to you as an alternative.

PR4, that explains a lot - A while ago i changed my URL from a .mcmail.com to a .co.uk, the mcmail.com was a PR5, with lots of backlinks, when i changed, i had to wait a month to get listed again, (in the mean time i contacted all the linked sites to change me to a .co.uk), so i guess i need to boost my PR up another notch and wait.

Ukgimp,

I also posted another query, but with no reply! here it is, hope you can help :-

About 6 weeks ago, i moved my website from myname.mcmail.com to myname.co.uk, I now just have a redirect from the .mcmail.com.
The last google dance, seemed to be a bit of a sucess for me, as my main keyword went to #1, however this is on the index.html page, and I can only find one other page eg secondpage.html within google. Does this mean that google did not spider all my site, if so what do i have to do to get him/her spidering all my pages.

I have links throughout my site connecting each page, but ive only ever submitted the index.html page to search engine, should i be submitting them all. Or is it because i need to give google a few months to spider all my pages

thanks

Hi

I have two sites both with a PR of 4, one has backlinks one does not.

The one that has back links has less links than the one that has no backward links.

The one with the backward links has been around since Jan this year, the other one without the backward links has been around since 99 (although I have only taken contol of it since Mar this year)

Ideas?

Regards

I look after a PR4 site which has at least 2 links I know of from PR5 pages on other sites. Both these pages are in googles index. Nothing shows on a link check in google

should i be submitting them all

NO. You said you are indexed so google knows you are there, resubmitting now would be a waste of time and lead you down the path of potential spam.

Ask yourself a few questions.
Are the links crawlable?
Were they indexed when you were working under a subdomain?
Is googlebot requesting the other pages in the site appart from 2nd.?
Does the stucture of the page lend itself to easy crawlability?
Have I waited long enough for things to happen?

Cheers

Hey, I didn't know you had to have a PR4 for back links to show?

Is that fact UKgimp?

Sounds like you just need to be patient, Andrew Thomas. You should be in good shape if you're in dmoz and yahoo.
Two quick tips:
1. I would go ahead and submit your site to our add url form, just to be safe
2. Make sure that you can reach all your pages with a text browser like Lynx.

If you can get by without session ID's, cookies, javascript, and fancy features like that, our spider should be able to find most/all of your pages.

Yes that is true. I think it is really a high 3.

Ask yourself a few questions.
ukgimp,

..Are the links crawlable?
yes although i use a dynamic menu, ive also put hyperlinks at the bottom of each page.

..Were they indexed when you were working under a subdomain?
yes, with my .mcmail address they were all indexed, although this site had been running for over a year, but i did no SEO for it, hence the change.

..Is googlebot requesting the other pages in the site appart from 2nd.?
Not that im aware of, i havent seen it in any of my other searches - or in the log files

Does the stucture of the page lend itself to easy crawlability?
strucure is as follows
index.htm
secondpage thirdpage fourthpage fithpage

i only have 3pages on a third tier. All the other are on a send tier, but all pages are physically in the same directory as the index page

..Have I waited long enough for things to happen?
Not sure, the new .co.uk site has been up for two months approx. but i only got put into google this last dance

thanks

Thanks googleguy,

Any ideas on the PR and backlinks problems i have, (see above) or will it all fall into place soon, as some posts here suggest they have PR but no backlinks and have been around for a while, can you give us some light on that please.

thanks again

just to clarify my post Andrew, although the site in question has been in google for a few months, this months update was the first one which indexed a complete site redesign which went up late August, so the site as it is now has only just appeared in google.

Perhaps thats why I show no backlinks.
