Improved PR, massive fall in SERP

I've gradually improved by PR from 1 in January, to 4 last month, up to 5 with the latest update.

My problem is that my position on my main 2-word keyword has fallen from 11 last month, to 150 earlier this week, and today the site has disappeared completely:(

Not a lot has changed with the site over the last 3-4 months just gentle tweaking. All I can think is that my main page has exceeded some limit on keyword density for the 2-word keyword and consequently been dropped. The site still appears for other keywords but in significantly lower positions than last month. My problem is that it is pretty much a 1 product commercial website trying to sell the 2-word keyword.

Anyone suffering similarly. Oh yeah and it's raining heavy in Wales:)

Sounds like what a few of us are noticing. Have you used the keyword density analyser at www.searchengineworld.com? It's a good way of putting numbers to patterns.

Raining in Wales? Isn't it always? *DUCK* :) Weather here in New Zealand is... well... dark mostly. Time I got sommmzzzzzzzz...

Take a look at this thread.

Pretty many seem to have experienced the same thing as you.

Also mentioned in the Google Update thread.

Hi there

Half of your backward links are from guest books. This may be the problem. You also don't have your keywords in your internal links to your homepage. This seems to be a major change in the latest update that anchor text is more necessary now.

"You also don't have your keywords in your internal links to your homepage."

How could I incorporate my 2-word key into the internal links? Currently these links say things like "Home","Download","Buy Online" etc. Should they be changed to "Keyword-Home", "Keyword-Download", "Keyword-Buy Online? If so won't this appear rather strange to people viewing the site and if anything look more spammy?

TIA
Jonny

Saying "home" is obviously like saying "blah". It gets nothing. Having the link say "site title home" is certainly not inappropriate and gets you some value greater than the blah of "home".

'...and gets you some value greater than the blah of "home".'

I hear what you're saying but I'm far from alone in using "Home" to refer to the main index page. In fact, I'm in quite esteemed company ... look at the top of this page for example ;)
