Not all of them are showing in the backlinks

I have a number of web pages that have links from dynamically generated pages in other sites. I can find the links to my pages from these sites by doing a search for "www.mysite.com/pageA.html" in Google, yet the links from theses sites do not show up when I do a backlinks check in Google or Alltheweb for that page. At least one page with a link to one of my pages shows PR7 on the toolbar, so it sure would be nice to be able to get credit for this link.

I'm a bit unsure of how Google indexes dynamically generated pages. If their search index can find the link to my page name, then why wouldn't a PR7 site show up in the backlinks? Would it help to get these pages indexed if I linked back to them from my links page?

Any insights are appreciated.

I never understand why people differentiate betweend dynamically generated pages and static ones. If you can't tell the difference, and google can't, then does it really matter, or is there even a difference at all?

To show you what I mean:
is [webmasterworld.com...] dynamically generated?
what about [yahoo.com...] is that dyamically generated?
How do you know? How would google know?

My point is that it doesn't matter if your pages are dynamically generated or not. They must be treated the same since it is impossible to tell them apart.

Now the question about if URLs with query strings are treated differently or not is a completely different matter...

These are all good points about static vs. dynamic urls, and a webmaster has to take all these factors into account when they decide or the layout and architecture of their site.
I think Google's goal is (and should be!) to improve our crawling without requiring webmasters to take extra steps or do more work. We are getting better about that with dynamic urls. But each webmaster has to decide what works best for their site.

If there was no difference between crawling static vs. dynamic URLs, then it would seem to me that there would be no need for Google to get better at it, and no factors for webmaster to take into account.
