I've had a link on PR7 site for two months now but it does not show up when i check links on google.

<a href="http://www.widget.com" target="_blank" onmouseover="window.status='http://www.widget.com';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;"><img src="./images/widget.jpg" width="135" height="42" alt="widget.com" border="0"></a>

My question is do images count the same as text links and is there a required length of time before google recognises a link.

My link is on the front page of their site and the google cache of their site contains the link.

I could have sworn i wrote 'this is the code they're using' above that code. Sometimes my thoughts get lost on the way to the keyboard.

Is that Javascript?

If it is, then most likely the spider won't follow the link so you won't see the backlink.

As far as I know googlebot can't crawl javascript links at the mo

looks ok to me progen, sometimes the links do seem to take a while to show up but just because its not a text link should not matter as I have a few image links myself that show on Google.

Have you tried to see if other SE's can see it as a link. Try Alltheweb.com as they seem to pick up links fairly quickly.

See if it shows up on Google after this update.

<a href="http://www.widget.com"

If the above snippet actually has your url in the non widgetized version then it should be fine.

jatar_K: Unless my site is widget.com and this is just a cunning link drop.

dazz: Thanks it's not on alltheweb but altavista seems to have found it ok, cheers :)
