I didnt believed it at first and thought a yahoo listing will just be the same as getting a link from anothor joe's page of the same pagerank...
But when i researched the google SERP rankings in a particular industry ( very competitive) i can see sites in top 5 are always yahoo listed. I am not sure this is just a coincidance...
I was looking into Google's Webmaster help page today and i stumbled into this piece of text..

What else can I do to get listed in Google?
Google partners on the Web include Yahoo! and Netscape. As part of our agreements with these sites we include the sites in their directories (Yahoo! and DMOZ) in the Google index. If you are having difficulty getting listed in the Google index, you may want to consider submitting your site to either or both of these directories. You can submit to Yahoo! by visiting [docs.yahoo.com...] You can submit your site to Netscape's Open Directory Project (DMOZ) by visiting www.dmoz.org. Once your site is included in either of these directories you can expect to see it appear in the Google index in four to eight weeks.

I am not sure what it mean..is google having any agrement with yahoo in spidering its sites. We can understand for dmoz since google uses it for its directory.. but Yahoo?
Where do you read that multiple of 10?. I think the PR boost from yahoo remain the same as from other same PR websites .
But i now believe that a yahoo or dmoz listing is one of the important ranking factor among the other infamous 100 variables google use along with PR ...
Any idea?
DMOZ and Yahoo! are also both "seeds" which Google uses to start it's spidering.
I would not be surprized if there was a bonus (non-PR) for being in one of these *trusted* human edited directories.
The way I see it, it's one of the few things that google tells you to do to improve your position, so you do it.
