red bar migrates from news section to bottom of search results

Can anyone confirm that the thin red (#aa0033) line on top of the blue bar at the bottom of a standard search results page is new?

Yes it's new. I can see it in all 5 SERPs (Web, Images, Groups, Directory and News, which has other similar borders). I wonder if it's intentional?

I notice that there is also a new tab located at the top of the serps and homepage .. where it used to be
[web] [images] [groups] [directory] <<dont correct me on the order :)

Yes mack, it's the new "News" tab.

news tab doesn't (yet) appear in any other language than english.

Has anyone else noticed that the red line disappeared once the update started?
