Removed from Google

Our web site was in Google only a couple of days

Our new web site got in Google just a week ago and was totally dropped on Saturday. To help you figure out why this could happen, please let me explain, how the site is set up.

1) The web site is hosted under two domain names - xyz.com and xyz.cz. Both domain names points to the same virtual server (i.e. the same IP address).

2) It's a multilingual web site, currently consisting of two language versions, English and Czech. The English version is placed in the /en/ folder, while the Czech one is in the /cs/ folder. Each language version contains a relative link to the other one on every page.

3) In the root folder there is a script that redirects either to the /en/ or to the /cs/ folder according to HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE browser header.

4) I submitted www.xyz.cz/cs/ to Czech directories and www.xyz.com/en/ to international directories. I have never submitted the root URL (www.xyz.com or www.xyz.cz) to any directory or SE, because I suppose the redirect could cause some problems.

Well, do you think that something of the above could be the reason, why the site disappeared from Google so quickly? If yes, how could I fix the problem?

I'm already helpless and I'd appreciate your advice a lot.

Try looking for your site in www2.google.com and www3.google.com. If you find it one of those, you should be ok.

Is that always the case? I know during the dance 2google will consistently show the incoming index but during these mid cycle updates I have only seen them show the same results at the same time; i.e. when google.com changes so does 2google. This, however, is my first time in the everflux. Gbody used to call only once a month and now it seems she has a crush om me. She's stopping by almost daily now.:)
And to think I'm terrified of spiders.

I wouldn't worry too much about it right now. If by the end of the month it hasn't reappeared, you may have a problem.

It has to still be in the middle of its' indexing phase from the last deep crawl. My site went through some major re-design, showed up with the new pages for a week and dissappeared. Now the old descriptions are back for the time being.

It seems as if my site shows up in the searches after the crawl, dissapears while new calculations regarding linking and pr are taking place, only to show back up when that's complete.

New content that has not yet had a PageRank score calculated is injected into the database on a temporary basis.

Consider it a Google Teaser. Once the monthly update has taken place and your pages have been given a PR score, your listings should become a bit more stable.

I've had exactly the same thing happen with a new site of mine. When it appeared it had a "fresh tag" ie a small date next to the cache showing when it was last updated. So I figured that it was in there as a fresh listing and I know these generally only last a few days anyway, so I wasn't surprised when it disappeared. Particularly as another site I own was in with a fresh tag at the same time and dropped back to the old listing when the new site completely disappeared.

I'm taking all this as a good sign and assuming it means my new site will be listed properly once Google updates. Until then I'll be happy for any fresh listing I get and look apon them as a bonus :) "Google teaser" is a good term actually.

Does the same thing occur if your pages have already have pr rank? Better question would be, have you ever noticed an occurence that would indicate a pr rank increase, such as listing appeared and then vanished?

Also, what is your experience with where it shows up in the search during that temporary time. Is that an absolute indication of where it will be when it has finished indexing, or no relevancy to final ranking whatsoever?

I have only seen it happen with new content. However, that content can be from a site that is already included.

When it shows up, it ranks very well. But those initial rankings aren't an indication where the pages will end up ranking after their PR has been caculated.

It's really more like Yahoo's new site tag. While you have it, you are listed at the top. Once it expires, you end up mixed in with all the other listings.

I had a well established site drop way down in Google last week for about three or four days and then come back.

When it disappeared, I checked and found that its ODP listing was gone, apparently due to a reorganization of the ODP category, and I thought this was probably the cause. The site came back, though, to roughly the same position it had held before. No idea why.

I've learned to be patient about these glitches, but this one had me scared because the ODP de-listing was an apparent cause. I've no idea whether the Google recalculation of Page Rank in fact had anything to do with the temporary drop.

I wonder if someone can help me, I had around 25 or so sites sites listed in Google, all of which had a good ranking, I have a dedicared server that hosts all sites.

I just checked on google and all sites have been dropped, they are all crossed linked, about 4 are about the same topic but the content is slightly different.

Why would they drop all my sites?

Do they sometimes drop them tempory when indexing and then relist them, this morning they was there, lunch time there all gone.

If anyone can help i would appreciate it

Don't worry too much. I too, had a brand new site listed on 9-22 and a day later was dropped. I have learned that the google bot will sometimes pick up "fresh" sites and then they will drop out quickly. Just check in the www2/3, mine was listed in there. The only difference that I found that the one that was picked up on 9-22 was my newest update, and it looks like an old cache version from about 2 months ago is the one they will list ( found on www2/2). Hey, I figure better something than nothing. I suppose that my new cache will be posted on October.

hmmm, just looked at the site in question. it is prob the excessive cross linking and keyword stuffing!

I would get some new domains, start again and not link to each other!

One more thing now that I read your second post. I have heard from a lot of different messages in here that during the "dance" your url will go in and out of www2/3 or change in ranking. They say this is common, so maybe when you looked in www2/3 it was at a time where it didn't show.

pob123 As the others have said, Cross-linking is the problem. There is nothing wrong with having affiliate-based sites - but I would really try and push some unique content in there.

The thing is I have just found some of my sites on Google but when i search for them by URL they are not found...

Would they drop all the linked sites or just some of them?

I have also noticed that all my new sites that was submitted 2 weeks ago are listed, all the old sites are the ones I can not find?

I know you have all said that it is because of cross linking but couldn't it be that i could just re-appear soon?

It's all a very misunderstood subject but there is a representative of google on the board and he has told us that sites are dropped from the index for various reasons, usually performed by dodgy SEO's to artificially inflate their rankings.

People here have been trying for 12 months or so to rid their domains of a penalty without much luck. The first thing I would do is unlink all your sites from one antother, get rid of the keywords and see if google takes pity with you and reenters you on the next index. Otherwise new domains is the way to go.

At the moment, while the google update is going on it is hard to see if your sites will be in the index once it has settled, give it a week and see if your sites are in then.

Sorry to still go on but I am really worried now!

Just because I linked my sites together, Google has dropped all my sites, I had nearly 40 sites in total that have all gone, I visted them and the pagerank page comes up grey, is there anything I can do about this?

I never reliased that adding a few links at the bottom of a page would get me dropped.

I am holding on in hope that they will come back to google, is there no certain way I can find out if the have barred me or anything?

One site is bad enough but 30-40 is going to cost me

wait for the update to settle, then check to see if you are in the index. If you are there but can be only found by a search of www.domain.com and when you go to it you have a completly white pr toolbar signs are not good! It would appear you have a penalty.

And I'm afraid as it seems writing to google doesn't seem to help much, do a search here for pr0 penalty and read other peoples bad luck!

If it is grey I think (can someone confirm) that you have been dropped but it could be that your servers were down when google came to check. Or then again it could be cos of your crosslinking.

I think I can see what google have done and anyone who has been an SEO for a while should be able to guess just by looking at the results, I got really scared yesterday after losing all 40 of my websites but I have to agree with many threads that I have read, if you choose to rely 100% on google then that's your choice, you have to play the game

I am a little concerning about spamming, If I have identicle sites all selling the same product would I get checked off google, I ask for two reason:

1) I am thinking of starting a affiliate program for my software but am concerned that by allowing affiliates to duplicate my site might cause me problems.

2) I have another site that has the main page selling is $ and then a complete duplicate of ths site in another directory /uk which charges in £, other than the £ and $ signs everything else is the same.

I would really appreciate someone helping me on this so i don't get in trouble.
