Google link: "Command"

No links showing for my site

Hi all,

I often use the link: command to check all important site links.

My site shows no results for this Google command and never has. The site is mainly database driven and uses 1 querystring parameter for the main pages. Google has spidered over 800 pages and I do have high rankings for a few keyword searches.

Other link popularity checkers list several links pointing to my site.

My question is ... without Google counting these links (if that is the case) how are my "votes" counted and does this lack of links affect ranking?

Does anyone else have a similar problem?

"Newbie" post so apologies if this has already been covered!

TIA
Barney

Welcome to WebmasterWorld b4rney,
Don't forget to read paynt's welcome post [webmasterworld.com].

Using the google toolbar [toolbar.google.com] is the page rank of your site a 4? Google will only show backward links on pages that have a Page Rank of 4 or higher (really it is a high 3). It will count all links that it finds it just won't show you them.

As far as your query string urls, Google will index these, but will stop as the Page Rank falls from the pages linking to them. It is always a good idea to not use 1 page to create hundreds of pages. Dynamic links should be used sparingly and without having user ids and other session information in them.
