Welcome to webmaster world mojous,

If you type higher page rank into the sites search engine you will be buried in info!

What you need is links, links and more links. The higher the site that is linking to you the more PR you will gain.

Also get yourself a DMOZ and yahoo listing if you have not already.

As I said read the old posts. Not much chance of getting a 10 (only about 5 or 6 sites on the web with those i.e NASA home page. If you can blag them in to giving you a link straight from there home page that would solve your problems!

If you can get a page with PR6,7,8 or even 9 or 10 with no-so-many-links-on-it you should be halfway there.

Many people have posted on the board getting a good 6 or 7 Pagerank with a few quality links

Something I've always wanted an answer for:
Does a listing in DMOZ and Yahoo, from categories that have a 5 or 6 Page Rank, have any other benefit than giving you an instant Page Rank of 4 or 5, respectively, strictly from a Page Rank standpoint?
In other words, is it just as beneficial to have no listing in DMOZ or Yahoo, but linked to from a quality site with just as high a Page Rank as the category your site is listed in?
I'm just wondering if there's an advantage other than a simple Page Rank 'rub-off' effect. Naturally, there are other advantages, such as referrals from the directory itself, and in the way your description is listed in Google, but is there anything inherently more meaningful from the Page Rank achieved from a listing from DMOZ and/or Yahoo? Know what I mean?

Strictly in terms of PageRank, I believe that a DMoz.org link works just as any other.

ODP or Yahoo! inclusion does get you preferential spidering, though.

mmm, my country: 'the netherlands' is not in yahoo.

[--added--]i can't just post it in another country, right?

Does getting more ODP listings makes it better for your site except getting more inbound links?

ikbenhet1, do you mean dir.yahoo.com/Regional/Countries/Netherlands/?

Martin, I can't think of an advantage, unless the ODP title gives you an extra boost beyond the link from DMoz.org and partners.
